Building a SaaS with AI right now feels like trying to build a car while pushing it down a highway full of self-driving cars. I’m pushing with one arm while the other is inside the gearbox trying to make second gear exist. The rear bumper is held on by a Paddle webhook, two API calls, and the fragile belief that nobody will reverse. And I’m still waving at people in perfectly functional cars: “Hey! Get out of that reliable self-driving vehicle with seatbelts, insurance, and 24/7 support. Come ride in mine.” “Does it work?” “Forward is mostly working.” “Is it safe?” “The dashboard has a beautiful dark mode.” Then somebody gets in. My first customer. Immediately, the car becomes harder to push. They ask where the seatbelt is. I tell them it’s on the roadmap. They ask why fuel is leaking onto their shoes. I explain that it’s a known issue and thank them for their feedback. Then the door handle comes off. I explain it’s modular architecture. So now I’m pushing with one hand, holding the door shut with my knee, and trying to install a seatbelt through the window while typing: “Thanks for flagging this!
