Original Summary
I'm self taught, 51yo and been going through some recent health issues. I'm in the job market in a second tier city, and eerything feels upside dowm.
How do I deal with the current market that seems fixated on AI graded leet code pre-screenings? I mean if you give me an actual 1:1 or meaningful homework I have no problem. But these pre screens feell like a challenge between rote memorization and gotcha schenarios with missing details.
I'm not against AI, I've found it incredibly usedful. But it just feels like a race to the bottom that I want to get out of, while seeing job rates that look like they're from decades passed. I just want a solid job, around a solid concept that I can deliver on with an exceptional eye for detail. I never thought about or ever want to retire. I'd get too bored. I have spent my entire career reading, experimenting and improving... I don't want to be pigeon-holed or grouped into the types that just stopped in place and gave up.
