Original Summary
Over the past month I was building SIMS (Semantic Image Search) for Android. Try queries like “orange cat on my desk”, “Saturn tattoo on a forearm”, or just “beaches”. The current alternative, Google Photos, runs all of this server side, and the results were honestly meh. Moreover I did not want to back up all my photos on google to be able to search through them. So I ran OpenAI’s CLIP ViT-B/16 on-device and built a minimal UX around it. Fully open source. I've tried to make the UX super simple with just the bare bones features I require. Video attached: me finding my Diet Coke collection in one search. Try it and tell me the weirdest query it gets wrong. Repo and APK in the comments. If SIMS is useful to you, a ⭐️ on GitHub helps more people find it. Bug reports and feature ideas welcome as issues. Feel free to send a PR :) Repo: https://github.com/Chandan-CV/sims APK: https://github.com/Chandan-CV/sims/releases/tag/v1.0.0 submitted by /u/No-Conversation-7926 [link] [comments]
