Original Summary

I wanted to share a small milestone that genuinely made my day. My app, Expense Easy , just reached #78 in the Finance category on the App Store in Australia . 🇦🇺 As an indie developer, seeing something you've built appear in the Top 100 is incredibly rewarding. While building it, I realized something. Gemini, ChatGPT, and plenty of apps can already read a receipt. The real problem starts after the receipt has been scanned. A few months later you can't remember: Where did I buy this? How much have I spent on coffee this year? Which doctor or dermatologist did I visit last year? Where's that receipt I need for reimbursement? Which subscriptions are renewing next month? Am I actually staying within my budget? That's the problem I wanted to solve. Expense Easy isn't just another OCR app. It's designed to become a memory for your finances. You can snap a receipt or simply speak your expense, and the app organizes everything automatically. If it's a foreign receipt, it translates the items, converts the total into your home currency using the latest exchange rate, identifies the merchant from the printed address (no GPS required), and saves the location so months or even years later you can remember exactly where you spent your money. If you're traveling, every expense is automatically grouped into the right trip, and when you return home your trip expense report is already waiting for you. For everyday life, you can create budgets, track subscriptions before they renew, search every transaction instantly, and even chat naturally with your expenses. You don't need to remember dates, folders, or filenames. Just ask. The goal was never to build another receipt scanner. The goal was to build something that quietly remembers every expense so that six months or even six years later, you can still find exactly what you're looking for in seconds. I'd genuinely love feedback from this community. If you manage receipts or track your spending, what's the one thing existing finance apps still get wrong? submitted by /u/Anon081 [link] [comments]
