Original Summary

Im currently stuck paying Google for more cloud storage than the free tiers, this is stuff like my Google photos, google drive and gmail. I wanted something that’s as easy to use as the Google Suite but I can reuse an old computer of mine that was just laying around. So I created Uncloud Node Storage which does this all for me, it basically acts as an orchestrator that allows you to connect directly to your storage node, in my case that’s my old PC. I’m hoping to soon be able to cancel my Google One subscription. The best part is that it works from anywhere, so even when I’m out of the house I can access my files. I’m planning on adding node to node backups, which would get me close to the redundancy and durability offered by the mainstream cloud providers. There is a subscription but this is mainly for access ing your files from mobile networks(uses TURN under the hood). I’ve found that if you’re accessing from another WIFI network then it isn’t required. Would love feedback if you have any! submitted by /u/uncloud-storage [link] [comments]
