Original Summary
Hey all, I've been building PermitTorch (permittorch.com). It pulls public building permits from city and county sources and finds the ones with fire-protection work: sprinklers, fire alarms, suppression, and failed inspections. Then it scores them as sales leads. I've made it completely free while it's in a pilot. You sign up and get every market. No credit card, no plan to pick. What it does: - Pulls permits from 30+ US markets, including NYC, Philadelphia, LA, Chicago, Boston and Miami. - Scores each lead from 0 to 100 with fixed rules, not AI. Every point is shown, like "+25 explicit fire sprinkler scope" or "+15 issued in the last 7 days". - Flags permits that already name a fire-protection contractor. Those are usually awarded jobs, so they're scored down and you can hide them. - Links every lead back to the government's own permit record, so you can check it yourself. - Shows how fresh each market's data is. Some cities only publish monthly, and it says so. - Includes filters, saved leads, CSV export and an email digest. I attached a short video walking through it. What I'd love feedback on: If you sell fire sprinkler, alarm or suppression work, would you actually use this? What would make it worth checking every week? Do the scores line up with what you'd consider a good lead? Which markets are missing that you'd want? What's confusing or broken? Brutal honesty welcome. I'd rather hear it now. submitted by /u/Inchardware [link] [comments]
