Original Summary
Hey r/saas , I'm Yahia, used to post here a ton while building random stuff on the internet for years. One of those projects was stockalarm.io, which I grew to 250,000 users and sold. Plenty of the others went absolutely nowhere (tons of fun though)... Eventually I bootstrapped Brand.dev. Give us a domain, get back logos, colors, fonts, and company info. Customers started asking us to pull more data from websites, and we kept saying yes. That grew into context.dev We went through YC S26, grew to 7 people, and built infrastructure that now handles millions of requests an hour across search, web scraping, crawling, and structured data. There’s a ridiculous amount of engineering behind that. Very proud of what the team’s built. But the biggest thing I’ve learned in a market this competitive is how much comes from staying close to customers.. For me, that’s meant: > personally taking 300–400 customer/lead calls a month, my calendar is a disaster most days. > talking to the same people again after they’ve actually used the product. You learn a lot on the second and third call. > understanding what they’re trying to do. a GTM use-case and infra making millions of requests have very different needs, we support both! > being an absolute lunatic about support, help someone always, even suggest solutions that aren't yours simply to be helpful (this one works wonders for people trusting you) Those conversations keep giving us things to build and things to fix, then i'd get back on a call and find out how we did. We just raised a $9M seed round today and power over 800 customers from public companies to indiehackers building their first saas, a pretty absurd journey from a little API that returned logos. Would love to answer any questions that people may be curious about, whether it's bootstrapping, going through YC, or raising all this money. P.S: everyone who signs up today gets 50,000 requests context.dev submitted by /u/context_dev [link] [comments]
