Original Summary
Hey everyone, Looking for some grounded, real-world perspective from people who work in Canadian tech sales or have navigated relocation recently. Quick background on me: Role: Senior Account Executive / Full-Cycle B2B SaaS Sales Experience: 6+ years in outbound prospecting, technical deal execution, and multi-stakeholder closing. Worked with US-based companies remotely. Performance: Consistently sitting at 150%+ quota performance Location Goal: Toronto / GTA (open to 100% on-site or hybrid) I’ve been reaching out directly to founders and sales leadership at early-stage startups in Toronto. I'm willing to cover my own relocation costs, but I require work permit/LMIA support to physically move to Canada. I know the current market in Canada is tight and HR at mid-to-large companies almost universally enforces a "local hires only" policy for sales roles. Questions for founders & leaders: Is direct LMIA sponsorship for a proven outbound AE at an early-stage startup even realistic in this market? Would I be better off targeting US/multinational SaaS firms in my local market first and pushing for an Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) to Toronto after a year? Are there specific sectors (e.g., health-tech, SMB SaaS) where Toronto founders are actually open to sponsoring senior closers who are willing to do on-site/field sales? Appreciate any candid feedback or advice from people on the ground. Thanks! submitted by /u/Sensitive-Bad6937 [link] [comments]
