Original Summary
Like a lot of people, my screen time was completely out of control. I found myself endlessly doomscrolling on TikTok and Instagram. The problem with standard iOS screen time limits is that they require zero discipline to bypass, you just tap "ignore for 15 minutes" and keep scrolling. My muscle memory was doing it automatically. I realized I needed a system with actual, physical friction. I developed a mobile app called Unrep. The concept is pretty straightforward: it blocks your most distracting apps, and the only way to earn screen time is to physically get down and do push-ups. The app uses the front camera to track your repetitions. So, if I want 15 minutes of scrolling, I have to pay the "toll" of 10 push-ups first. I know there are a couple of other apps in this niche market like PushScroll or PushBlock. But as a developer, I wanted to build my own take on this concept, refine the UI/UX, and most importantly: I am offering Unrep completely for free right now to build an early user base and get raw feedback. It completely shifted my mindset. Half the time, the thought of doing push-ups makes me realize I don't actually want to check my phone I'm just bored. Since this is a side project, I would love to get feedback from other builders and users: - How is the camera detection working for you? - Is the UI intuitive enough when setting up the app restrictions? -What features would you add to make the "punishment" more balanced? You can check it out for free App Store . I'd appreciate any feedback, roast, or feature request you throw my way! submitted by /u/BenchAcceptable303 [link] [comments]
