Original Summary
Most of us know how it goes. You start December with a rough number in your head. Then you buy something here and something there, and in January the credit card bill is a lot bigger than you meant it to be. For couples and families it's harder, because nobody can see what everyone else has already bought. The team I'm posting for built a planner for exactly this. It's called the Christmas Budget & Gift Planner (Dashboard Edition). You set one total budget, list the people you're buying for, and give each person a spending limit if you want one. There's a free web demo with the first two tools: setting your budget, and adding people with optional spending limits. Your numbers save automatically on your own device. There's no account and no cloud sync, and it doesn't connect to your bank. The full planner is a $12 one-time purchase, delivered instantly through Gumroad. Here's what it adds: A Gift Tracker that moves each gift from idea to bought to wrapped to given, with search, filters, per-person totals and CSV export A Savings Jar and a Ready for Christmas meter Printable shopping lists A Quick-Start Guide and a pre-loaded example family, so you can see how it works before entering your own info Offline use on any device If $12 is a stretch, you can email the team and ask for a discount link that brings it to $9. You can try the demo here: https://buildbysix-designs.vercel.app/christmas-budget-demo.html A question for anyone who plans holiday spending: what usually breaks your budget? Is it the people you forgot to include, small extras that add up, or not knowing what's already been bought? We'd like to know if the demo's budget and per-person limits match how you actually plan, or if something important is missing. Disclosure: I'm posting this on behalf of the buildbysix-designs.vercel.app/christmas-budget-demo.html team. submitted by /u/investigatormaker [link] [comments]
