Original Summary
i was spending the first forty minutes of every morning digging through session logs trying to figure out what my agents did overnight. basically forensics lol. the worst part wasn't even the time, it was never knowing if i was about to build on something broken because one agent changed a response shape and the agent depending on it never noticed. so i started building my own board for this (still early). the idea came from something another dev said that stuck with me: keep the system of record separate from the working memory. chat sessions can be throwaway, that's fine. tasks live in one place and the board is where context survives between sessions and between different agents. stuff that actually worked: - handoff notes with a "didn't test" field. when an agent finishes a card it writes what files changed, what it checked, and what it didn't test. that last one matters most since it's the agent telling you what it's unsure about - personas with their own scoped mcp connections. each role gets its own brief and its own access, so you can pull access from one without nuking the whole setup - a questions thing. agents ask the board instead of guessing, the answer goes back to whoever asked and stays searchable. this killed most of the silent drift where one agent changes something and another one just breaks stuff that didn't: - i first tried keeping every chat session as a permanent record. that's what made the bloat. hundreds of cli and app chats, and finding context weeks later was basically impossible. letting chats stay disposable and putting the durable stuff on the board fixed it - i underestimated how much the hard part is updating what the agent already thinks it knows. persistent memory fixed the obvious stuff first (no more repeated questions), then stale facts crept in and the agent would confidently repeat logic that used to work and didn't anymore anyway still early. curious how other people handle the overnight run thing, the morning archaeology is real and i doubt i'm the only one doing it ha submitted by /u/onitsoga [link] [comments]
