So I built a web called Portsviews that takes the live positions that ships broadcast and draws them as a top-down view of the water near a port: cargo ships, tankers, ferries, and tugs moving in real time, each with its wake. You can leave it running on a wall screen or a table or project it onto the ceiling. Free and open source here . Next I’m working on a dedicated display version.
