Original Summary

Hi r/SideProject ! A little while ago I shared OpenTodo , a to-do app you run on your own server. It’s a single Go binary with SQLite, the web app is built in, and it installs on your phone as an app that works offline. Since then a lot of you have tried it and opened issues, so here’s what’s changed. New in 0.8: Open Loops (optional) I kept getting asked about GTD, so 0.8 adds a method of its own inspired by it: catch, clarify, place, do, review. It’s off unless you turn it on, and you pick how much of it you see: Lists only : the app works exactly as before. Companion : screens point out which step they help with. Open Loops first : you land on a home screen built around the method. It adds a Next view (each project’s next action, grouped by "context" labels) and a Waiting view (tasks you handed to someone else or that are blocked). The weekly review is now a guided stepper. It walks you through your Inbox, a mind sweep, what slipped, what’s waiting, every project one card at a time, the week ahead, and Someday. There’s also a five-minute daily check and a monthly look back. Everything has keyboard shortcuts. Other recent changes Interface in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese Import from Todoist, TickTick, Things and Linear Email to task, which now handles newsletters properly Calendar feeds in both directions, CalDAV, attachments, habits, custom fields Optional end-to-end encryption Optional AI assistant (bring your own provider or a local model) and an MCP server. Both are off by default, and nothing is sent anywhere until you turn them on. A security hardening pass, plus templates for Unraid, Coolify, Compose, Helm and more Try it Website Demo, no sign-up (you get a private sandbox that’s deleted after a few hours): https://demo.open-todo.app Or run it yourself (the image is under 25 MB): docker run -d -p 8080:8080 -v opentodo-data:/data ghcr.io/pixari/opentodo:stable Code (AGPL-3.0): https://github.com/pixari/opentodo No telemetry, no account with me, no per-seat pricing. I’d especially like feedback from anyone who uses GTD: does the review flow match how you actually do it? submitted by /u/Alternative_One_4804 [link] [comments]
