Original Summary
I’ve got about three million photos in folders named after wherever I took them, and I’ve never found a manager I liked. Lightroom wants to be an editor and isn’t much of a manager either. So I built my own. It’s called Optoporter: https://optoporter.co.uk You point it at a folder on your own machine and it opens it in the browser. Nothing gets uploaded, there’s no account and no server involved; the photos never leave your computer. You can tag photos, put locations on them, switch on smart tagging (a small model that runs locally in the browser) to suggest tags, and tidy tagged photos out into folders. It’s free and it’s early. I’d like to know what breaks, what’s missing, and whether it’s any use to anyone with a big messy archive besides me. submitted by /u/mnkby [link] [comments]
