Original Summary
I’m a developer with a working video processing service, but I’m struggling to figure out who to sell it to and how to reach them. It takes video URLs and extracts on-screen text through OCR and speech through ASR. It supports large batches with concurrent processing. For videos up to 30 seconds long, pricing can be around $0.01 per video at sufficient volume. The missing piece is finding teams that need this regularly. Low pricing alone doesn’t tell me which customer has a problem worth solving. I’m considering teams doing short-video research, e-commerce video analysis, or building searchable video libraries. These are potential use cases, though—I haven’t validated which one has the strongest demand. For anyone who has sold a developer tool or a technical processing service: How did you narrow down your first customer segment? Which channel led to actual paying customers: direct outreach, developer communities, partnerships, technical content, or something else? What did you need to demonstrate before someone trusted you with a paid batch? I’d especially appreciate examples of how you found the right person inside a company. I can explain the technology, but I’m less sure who owns this problem and the budget to solve it. What would you investigate first in my position? submitted by /u/Classic-News2068 [link] [comments]
