Original Summary
Every UI AI agents wrote for me had the same look: rounded-xl cards, slate-600 text, a gradient somewhere. Saying “make it look like Linear” didn’t help much. Screenshots helped a bit, but it guesses spacing and colours from pixels. I find it hard for agents to remember design systems or atleast make something relevant at times. So I built xtractly - Web to React & Tailwind for AI Agents. Save the components, colours and fonts you like from any site. Your coding agent reads them before it writes a line, so it ships your style, not the default. What fixed it was giving it the real values from one component I liked: its structure, the computed styles, and my own tokens so it maps their colours onto mine. Ways to do it, cheapest first: by hand in devtools, the Figma MCP, or what I ended up building (click an element, your agent fetches it over MCP as a ~2KB prompt). Things I learned: agents copy structure well and taste badly. Give it your tokens or it pastes their brand into your app. One reference per prompt. It still can’t see hover or JS. What do you all give Claude when you want a specific look? submitted by /u/ConcertRound4002 [link] [comments]
