Original Summary
Hey everyone! I've been working on a project called Ballast, and I wanted to share it here because it's still early and I'd love to hear what other people think. The main feature is a free calculator where you enter purchases you've made, choose what percentage of that spending you'd hypothetically want to put toward investing, and get a potential list of stocks and ETFs based on the amount. I recently added an Explore section, too. It shows how inflation gradually reduces the purchasing power of money over time and includes a place to learn about investing and financial markets. The idea started from thinking about how much we spend every day and wondering if there was a different way to connect everyday spending with investing. I know the concept needs work. It's something I'm experimenting with to see if it could actually be useful. It's completely free, and I'm not selling anything. You don't have to connect a bank account or share financial information; you enter purchases manually, and nothing gets stored. This is definitely not a finished product. I'm trying to get it in front of people early so I can figure out what's useful, what's confusing, and what I should improve before building more. If you check it out, I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback. Especially interested in what you think of the calculator, whether the idea makes sense, and what you'd change. Here's the site: https://useballastfinance.com If you want to follow along as I keep building and improving it, I'm also on Instagram as Ballast Finance. Thanks for taking a look! submitted by /u/Internal_Front3342 [link] [comments]
