Original Summary
I wanted a notch for Windows. The ones I tried felt heavy, so I wrote my own in Rust. It's ~1 MB, no Electron, and uses about 0% CPU while it sits there doing nothing (~30 MB RAM on my PC). MIT-licensed. What it does: Ctrl+Alt+T from any app: type a task, Enter, done before you forget it. One click starts a focus timer on a task, and the countdown stays in the notch. Music controls, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/volume dropdowns, clipboard history with search, stats, pinned apps. The completely unnecessary part I'm proudest of: a buddy lives on your top bar (a robot by default, or a cat, a bunny, even a samurai). And every few minutes a little cast acts out a scene right on the bar. A dev ships on a Friday and a very angry bug shows up. A manager presents to a room that keeps saying "you're on mute". Someone hits a cricket six straight out of your taskbar. Nothing runs between scenes. It's early, I've tested it on 4 PCs across Windows 10 and 11, and the installer isn't code-signed, so SmartScreen will give you a stern look. (A friend found a bug where it hid itself; v0.9.5 fixes it.) And tell me which scene I should do next. submitted by /u/Nice_Current_8581 [link] [comments]
