Original Summary
I’ve been working on an iPhone app called Portfolio Preview, and I’m at the point where I need some outside opinions before I put more money into it. The idea came from checking my own investment portfolio and seeing that I was up or down a few hundred dollars without really understanding what was driving the change. The app breaks down how much each stock or ETF contributed to your daily gain or loss, then uses AI and financial news to explain what might have caused those movements. The explanations are written in plain English, with sources you can check. I’m also working on read-only brokerage connections so people can see their own holdings without manually entering everything. It’s still in development, but I have a working prototype. I’m considering charging $18/month with a 3-day free trial. I’m curious about a few things: Would this solve a problem you actually have, or do your existing investing apps already do enough? Would you realistically pay $18/month for it? Would you feel comfortable connecting a brokerage account through a read-only integration? What would make an app like this worth paying for? I’m genuinely looking for criticism here. I’d rather find out now if the idea isn’t worth pursuing than spend thousands of dollars launching something nobody needs. submitted by /u/Apprehensive-Dog5642 [link] [comments]
