Original Summary

I was testing Grok's browser environment through test.leonix.io , and something interesting happened. Grok went from looking like a browser running in a cloud environment to something much closer to a regular desktop browser. Grok: Before vs. Now Signal Previous Grok Latest Grok Browser Chrome 154 Chrome 155 Operating system Linux Linux IP provider Cloudflare Verizon Business Network type Hosting ISP Datacenter detected Yes No VPN detected Yes No Relay detected Yes No Virtual machine detected Yes No GPU renderer SwiftShader (Subzero) Intel UHD Graphics 630 Logical processors 8 8 Device memory 16 GB 16 GB Screen resolution 1920 × 1200 1920 × 1200 1. SwiftShader is gone Previously, Grok exposed SwiftShader (Subzero), a software based GPU renderer commonly found in virtualized or cloud browser environments. Now it reports Intel UHD Graphics 630, using Mesa and OpenGL. This doesn't necessarily mean it's running on physical hardware, but it removes one of the more obvious clues we previously observed. 2. The network looks completely different Few days back, Grok traffic came through Cloudflare and was classified as datacenter traffic. VPN and relay detection were also positive. Now the connection comes through Verizon Business, classified as an ISP. No datacenter flag. No VPN flag. No relay flag. That's quite a change for anyone relying on network intelligence to identify automated browsers. So what does this tell us? A few days ago, identifying this Grok session using infrastructure and browser signals looked relatively straightforward. Now those signals have disappeared. It doesn't prove Grok deliberately changed its environment to avoid detection. And for those relying on HTTP headers to detect Grok, the identifying header we previously observed has been absent from our tests since October 9. If your agent detection depends on a header, an IP range, or SwiftShader, what happens when all three disappear? Grok is trying its best to look like human, would love to hear what you all found. If you're dealing with unwanted AI agent traffic and looking for a lightweight, low-code way to detect it, feel free to reach out. submitted by /u/LeonixAI [link] [comments]
