Original Summary
Hey r/SideProject , solo dev here. I've been building Ornymo, an AI support widget for small websites. You upload your FAQ, paste one line of code, and the chatbot answers visitors using your own answers. If it isn't sure, it emails you the conversation instead of guessing. Stack: FastAPI backend, Next.js and Tailwind frontend, and the widget loads in an iframe from a single script tag. What I learned along the way: Most "no users" problems are product understanding problems. People land on a site, can't tell what it does within a few seconds, and leave. I'm still working on this for my own landing page. Small UI bugs eat the most time. 100vw includes the scrollbar width, which left a white strip next to my chat window. Auto scrolling to the bottom also trapped people who were trying to reread an earlier message. Embedding is harder than building. The widget has to behave on every screen size and every host site, and a fixed size iframe doesn't. There's a free plan if you want to try it: https://ornymo.com (it's my project, mentioning it so that's clear). What would you want a landing page to show you in the first 5 seconds to understand a product like this? submitted by /u/Lower-Ear2146 [link] [comments]
