I use keyboard shortcuts for pretty much everything, and it always annoyed me that once I leave the browser I end up reaching for the mouse again. So I made NavKey. It is basically a Vimium-style keyboard navigation for Windows. You can bring up hints over clickable things, type the letters to activate them, scroll with J/K, switch between windows, and do a lot without taking your hands off the keyboard. I know there are a few tools in this space already, but I couldn’t find one that felt like a polished, system-wide Vimium for Windows, so I ended up building the thing I wanted to use. The video is just a normal screen recording. The little key overlay at the bottom is only there so you can see what I am pressing. I only launched it recently, so I am still testing it across different apps and figuring out what could be better. If you use Vimium, Vim, or just prefer using your keyboard instead of reaching for your mouse, I would really like to know what you think. What would it need to do for you to actually use something like this every day? Also, if there are any apps you would want me to test it with, let me know.
