Original Summary

Full disclosure, I built the thing I am describing. The useful part here is the numbers, not the product. For three weeks in August I put a launch video into 37 Facebook groups. Attach the video, write the post, publish, move to the next group. Yesterday I added tracking tags to the links and read it back: Facebook, 37 posts: 0 signups Reddit, 5 posts: 1 LinkedIn, one post, link not even tagged: 2 (they show up as a linkedin.com referrer) That LinkedIn row is the part that stings. It is the channel I put the least work into, and it is the only one where the traffic is visible at all. Facebook does not even have a "came from facebook.com" row, and as LinkedIn shows, an untagged click still lands in one. So it is not broken tracking. People just did not click. Two things I would do differently. Tag the links before the campaign instead of six weeks in. And actually fill in the tracker: mine sat at 26 posts and 0 recorded signups for two weeks, which is the only reason I did not notice sooner. Honest limitation: 7 signups total in the window, which is small. Shares over WhatsApp show up as direct traffic, so some Facebook traffic could be hiding in there. It is a ratio argument, not proof. When I finally sat down to learn attribution properly, I had the app build me a plan for it, which is a bit on the nose. Link in the first comment if you want to look. Does anyone here actually know their signups per post on their main channel? I would guess most of us do not. submitted by /u/New-Resource-4943 [link] [comments]
