Original Summary
I’m in my first year of engineering school and I run MagnetEngine xyz , on the side. 7 paying users, $1000+ MRR. It’s small, but I’ve made enough dumb mistakes that I figured I’d write them down. What it does: it finds instagram prospects for agencies and coaches, writes a dm for each one from their account/content/algorithme, basically stalk them, puts everything in an queue, and sends through a Chrome extension. What worked, in order of how surprised I was: My first users came from me just describing my old week to people. I used to be an appointment setter for coaches and agency owners, and I run a small web design agency where I hated prospecting. I’d say what that week looked like and they’d go “lol that’s me.” No pitch needed. The queue. Every bulk dm bot is cheaper and faster than mine, and mine is slower on purpose. I thought that would hurt. People actually pick it because of that. Posts where I just explain how I do the process, no link. Those got me more trials than any post with a link in it. What didn’t work: building stuff nobody asked for. I spent [7 weeks] on features and almost nobody touches it, while the feature people use gets opened every day. Right now I’m trying to figure out the real next problem, e.g. getting trials to actually pay if you’re curious. Happy to share any of the numbers.
