Hey r/SideProject ! 👋 I love football, so I've been building The Footballer , a free site where fans can: 🃏 Collect 400+ player cards by opening packs (Common → Ultimate, plus 46 Icon legends like Pelé, Maradona and Zidane) 🎮 Play 20+ mini-games to earn coins: penalties, crossbar challenge, header heroes, and a "Deadly Challenge" most people can't survive for 20 seconds 🏆 Get drawn into a daily knockout tournament against other players 🔮 Predict real match scores and fill in a Champions League bracket 🤝 Add friends with a code, trade cards, and chat How it's built (for the curious): The whole front end is one HTML file of plain JavaScript, with no framework, hosted free on GitHub Pages Supabase for accounts, the database and live chat. All the important stuff (coins, pack opening, rewards) is checked server-side so people can't cheat A small Cloudflare Worker fetches real match results and tables Total cost so far: €0 What I learned: Phones matter most. My first mobile version had pack cards squeezed to 50px wide 😅 Making games fair is hard. I tuned the crossbar challenge from too hard to too easy and back again Never trust the browser. Anything that gives rewards has to be checked on the server I'd love feedback on: Is it clear what the site is when you first land on it?
