Original Summary
Recently, I recorded a video for the training that focuses on privacy. This was a small annoyance I kept running into. Sometimes you already have the finished video. You don't want to edit the video, add effects, create transitions, or upload it somewhere. You literally just want: Drop video → choose 1.25× / 1.5× / 2× → export. And ideally, the audio shouldn't suddenly make everyone sound like chipmunks. There are obviously plenty of powerful video editors that can do this. But that was actually the problem for me. We have numerous giant video editing software apps out there such as Premier Pro , DaVinci Resolve , CapCut . I didn't need a video editor. I needed one tiny job done quickly. So I ended up building a small desktop app called ClipTempo around that idea. It changes the video's playback speed locally on macOS. No uploading the video somewhere, no account, and no watermark. While building it, I noticed something interesting: Removing features was actually harder than adding them. Every time I thought: "Maybe it should also do X..." I came back to one question: Does this help someone change the speed of their video and get back to what they were doing? If not, I left it out. I put it here if anyone has the same problem: ClipTempo as a MacOS utility. I'm curious about people who work with video regularly: When you only need to make a tiny change like this, do you still open your normal video editor, or do you keep smaller tools around for these one-off jobs? submitted by /u/SrinivasanKK [link] [comments]
