Original Summary
I got tired of sitting on hold for an hour just to get the discount everyone gets when they threaten to cancel, so I built Pinch. You text it (no app). Tell it the company and what you pay. An AI assistant calls, gets through the phone menu and the hold, and asks the retention team for a better rate. You get a link to follow the call live, every line as it's said. Some companies want you on the line for about a minute to confirm it's you, so Pinch texts you first and patches you in. It never accepts or cancels anything without your yes. Best real result so far: a DIRECTV customer went from about $190 to $137/month for a year, plus a $200 Visa card. It does best on SiriusXM, cable/TV, internet and phone bills, and card annual fees. Pharmacies mostly hung up on it, so I stopped offering that. (The call scenes in the video are a dramatization; the DIRECTV number is real.) Free while in beta, US phone numbers only for now: https://justpinch.me/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=sideproject Feedback I'd love: would you let an AI call a company for you, and what would make you trust it more? And was it clear what happens when you tap the button? submitted by /u/iamstanty [link] [comments]
