Original Summary

Last week I checked my own install to confirm the fix was doing its job. The state said "1 ask shown, last on Oct 10". Weird because I've never seen the banner myself, not even on the install I test with. Update n°8 , for context, said I'd found and fixed the bug keeping my "please review us" notification invisible (well, I thought it was fixed). That bug explains the 0 reviews I'd collected over months live. I posted about it and moved on. So I traced the counter logic and there it was, the ask got incremented the moment the popup opened, not when the banner was actually shown and dismissed. And anyone opening the popup without noticing the banner, me included, burned one of the three asks. the next chance was 15 days out. The next version counts the ask on dismiss now, not on open. It also keeps the banner visible on every popup open until you act on it, and after three dismissals (day 3, 18 and 33 after install) that's it, you'll never see it again. This time I wanted actual proof before believing anything. My old schedule test asserted the wrong contract, so I rewrote it. There's a new regression test too, one that opens the popup a few times without reacting and fails on the old code. Anyone else shipping extensions or apps? I'm curious how you ask for reviews without burning goodwill. Do you run day-N banners, or wait for a success moment? Or do you just skip asking entirely?
