Original Summary
Opsgenie shuts down on 5 April 2027. Most replacements are full on-call platforms. I wanted the small part that many teams actually use: Alertmanager and Grafana alerts that end up in a chat channel. So I built only that part, as a side project: Suitaar . How it works Suitaar speaks the Opsgenie Alert API. In Alertmanager or Grafana, you change the Opsgenie URL and the key, and your alerts go to Slack or Discord. Repeats with the same alias become one alert with a count. Close, acknowledge and notes work through the same API, and heartbeats alert you when a cron job stops pinging. There's also a guide for Zapier, Make and n8n, so a failed automation can alert your channel too. It does not do on-call schedules, phone calls or SMS. If you need paging, keep an on-call tool. What I learned this week from load testing I sent 1,000 alerts in one minute at the production server: one small VPS running Swift (Vapor) and Postgres, with Postgres also as the job queue. No alert was lost in any run, but the first run found two real problems: The delivery worker held a database connection during each Slack/Discord call, so some API requests waited over a second. It sent one message at a time across all destinations, so one slow webhook held up the others. After the fixes: API p95 124 ms from the Netherlands, about 1 second from alert to the first chat message, and Slack paced at its own limit of about one message a second per webhook. The same test now runs in CI from the US. Next: flood control and escalation to a second channel are built, and I'm running them on my own alerts first. With flood control, 500 different alerts to one channel in a minute become 10 messages and one summary. It's free during the beta (3 channels, no payment details). Data stays in the EU, no trackers. Feedback welcome: if you used Opsgenie, which features did you actually use day to day? No link in the post, because my account is new and Reddit's filter removed my first try here. Ask in the comments and I'll share it. submitted by /u/sdely [link] [comments]
