Original Summary

Last week I posted Foundplay , a free site for discovering browser games: no downloads, no sign-up, and every game plays on its creator's own site. You all showed up in a big way, so here's the 1 week update. 🙏 📊 The numbers (since launch) Stat Since launch Page views 702,000 Visits 324,000 Plays (clicks on Play) 283,000 Countries & territories 215 Games listed 1,224 Upvotes 8,214 Email subscribers 2,079 Best day: 148,000 page views . This sub alone sent 27,000 visits . You're awesome. 💸 Business model Free for players. No ads. Free for devs. Your game stays on your site, you keep your own ads and purchases, and there's no exclusivity. Revenue = Boost. Devs can pay for guaranteed plays from clearly labelled "Sponsored" spots: $10 for 80 plays, up to $100 for 1,000. Revenue so far: $158 from 12 sales (first sale on day 3, and 3 devs already came back to buy again). Tiny, but it already covers what the site costs to run each month. 🎉 🧠 Learnings Google showed up way faster than I expected. About 64% of visits came from search in week one. Sponsored spots sold out in days. So I cut plays per dollar, paused free boosts, and added more spots. Supply was the bottleneck, not demand. Clicks ≠ fun. One game with a flashy cover got tons of clicks and almost no upvotes. Featured spots now need upvotes too. Only count real plays. Once per person per day, so devs pay for actual humans. Habits beat features. New games drop every day at 6 AM and 6 PM PT , and that's what brings people back. Made a browser game? List it free at foundplay.io/submit and it goes out in the next drop. Thanks for making week one wild. AMA about the numbers! 🙌 submitted by /u/TheRealXmo [link] [comments]
