Original Summary
I do step loading - each lift climbs from 3x3 up to 5x5, then you add weight and start again. I'd been tracking it in Apple Notes, but I kept losing track of which step each lift was on. Every gym app I tried was the opposite of what I wanted. They're built to log anything, and they want an account, a subscription, or to "optimise my training with AI." So I built Ladder. It does step loading and nothing else. Hit every set → next step. Finish 5x5 → add weight. Miss a set → one step back. You open a lift and it tells you what to do today. The hardest part was saying no. Custom programs, other rep schemes, and charts were all tempting, but each one would have made it a worse step-loading app and a mediocre general logger. There's also no backend: no account, nothing to sync, and everything stays on the device. Built with Expo/React Native, and it's live on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6811812721 Happy to answer questions about the build or the method. submitted by /u/Filip_Melka [link] [comments]
