Original Summary
So I play in a band and honestly the music part was never the problem. It was all the other stuff, and every time a new problem showed up I just had to solve it however I could. Setlists? I’d open Photoshop to make them look decent. Press kit? Same thing, and if something broke or changed I had to redo the whole thing. Instagram posts were the worst. I’m pretty bad at it and I’d spend days in After Effects just to make something simple that I actually liked. So I started making little tools just for us. First a setlist thing, then a stage plot that also spits out a technical rider PDF for the sound guy. Then every time something annoyed me I added it. Fast forward a while and it’s basically one app for everything a band does outside of rehearsing lol. I called it BandStack. Right now it has setlists, stage plot + rider, a show calendar with checklists, box office, finances, merch stock, a little contacts thing for venues/promoters/press with a map, and a bunch of content tools: posts, photo carousels, audio visualizers, lyric videos (you can sync the lyrics with Whisper if you want), flyers, QR codes, a press kit and a basic video editor. Everything exports to png/mp4/pdf. It works offline and your stuff stays on your pc. Spanish and English. The tech side, since the sub asks for it: it’s Electron, with SQLite (sql.js) for the data. Video export goes through ffmpeg frame by frame, with a fake clock so the export looks exactly like the preview (that one took forever to get right). The installer is electron-builder/NSIS with auto updates from github releases. Payments and license keys go through Polar. My first payment provider just never approved me after weeks, so I switched lol. Full honesty: I’m not a dev. I used Claude for basically all the code. Sonnet at the start, and Opus 5.5 later when stuff got harder, like hunting bugs and doing security checks. For the art and backgrounds I used ChatGPT. Imo ChatGPT is better for the art side and Claude is way better for coding, so I just used each for what it’s good at. My part was deciding what to build, testing it to death and saying “no that’s ugly” a lot. Stuff I learned that might help someone: build it for yourself first. we ended up cutting like 50 features I had added without really testing them, and they just weren’t needed every now and then, download your own app like a normal user and actually use it for a few minutes as an end user. that’s when you really see what’s worth it. if something isn’t comfortable to use, it doesn’t matter how cool it is AI writes the code, but you still have to test it like a real user. the bugs that actually mattered only showed up when I saved, closed, reopened and exported things over and over be paranoid about user data. I found out the default uninstaller would have wiped people’s data on every update. caught it only because I tested a full update About selling it: I’m not trying to make a living off this. Music is what I love, and between work and everythi
