Original Summary
This is one thing I still don’t have a good answer for as a SaaS founder. When a customer requests a new feature saying it would change everything for them, how do you validate it as a pain point for the wider market. Revenue makes this harder. If a large customer is ready to pay, it’s very easy to call their request “market demand.” My current test is pretty basic. Have I heard the same problem from other people? Are they already wasting time or money trying to solve it? Do they care enough to change what they do today? Even then, there’s still a lot of guessing. How do you decide when a customer request belongs on the roadmap? Edit: the title was supposed to say " How do you tell a real market signal from one insistent customer?" submitted by /u/e7h4n_z [link] [comments]
