Original Summary

Hi r/SideProject ! I’m a solo developer and I’ve spent the last couple of weeks building PitchPin , a daily sports geography game. Think Wordle meets GeoGuessr, but for sports fans. How it works Every day there’s a new “over” of 6 famous sporting moments (mostly cricket, plus football and the Olympics) You get 20 seconds per question to drop a pin on the globe where it happened Land on the stadium and it’s a SIX (5,000 points); the further away, the fewer points There’s a spoiler-free share grid, a daily and weekly leaderboard, and private groups to compete with friends Score 18,000+ and you spin a wheel for a retro, Nokia-style bonus game: street basketball, football, penalties, a cricket run chase or a 4×100m relay Try it: https://pitchpin.online/?ref=reddit-sideproject (free, no sign-up, no ads, works on phones) The build Vue 2 + Vuetify, MapLibre GL for the globe, Supabase for the backend, hosted on Vercel Answers never reach the browser before you lock a guess, and the timer is enforced on the server Total running cost so far: just the domain What I learned Strangers scored much lower than my friends did and dropped off after ball 2 or 3. I now order each day’s questions so the best-known grounds come first Every bonus game was tuned by simulating thousands of games before a real person played it, then still needed several rounds of “this feels too easy” feedback from real players Rate limits, input rules and a Content-Security-Policy took longer than any feature, but they’re worth it as soon as real people show up What I’d love feedback on Which ball did you quit on, and why? Is the daily over about the right difficulty? Which bonus game is the most fun, and which one should go? Thanks for reading, and happy to answer any questions about the build! submitted by /u/georgebpaul96 [link] [comments]
