I am student and I was subscribed to a pile of security newsletters and reading almost none of them. The one email about an actively exploited vulnerability looked exactly like the twenty about webinars. So I built Intel60: security news as swipeable cards, one story per card, 60 words each. What it does - Every 30 minutes it pulls 8 security news sources (BleepingComputer, The Hacker News, SecurityWeek, Krebs, Dark Reading, The Record, CyberScoop, SANS ISC) plus CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog - An LLM (Claude Haiku) writes a 60-word summary per story (what happened, who's affected, what to do), rates it Critical / High / Info, and merges duplicates when several outlets cover the same incident - CVEs get their CVSS score, EPSS exploit probability, and an "Exploited" tag if they're on CISA's KEV list - You can set a personal watchlist (Cisco, Okta, AWS...) that's stored only on your phone - Critical stories go to a Telegram channel How it's built (no server) - GitHub Actions runs the pipeline every 30 min, the repo is the database (a JSON file), and GitHub Pages hosts the app - It's an installable web app: add it to your home screen and it works offline - Total cost is about $3/month for the AI calls. Readers just download the same JSON file, so it costs the same for 1 user or 1,000 What went wrong in launch week - I built on GitHub's free AI model tier, and GitHub shut that service down. Every run "succeeded" while producing zero cards, because the endpoint started returning a plain "OK" instead of JSON. I moved to the Anthropic API and added monitoring so I get alerted when something breaks - GitHub's cron trigger ran every 4–7 hours instead of every 30 minutes on a new repo, so an external timer now triggers the workflow - Two overlapping runs clashed on the git push; each run now starts from the latest commit I built it with AI-assisted development (Claude Code).
