Original Summary
Every "how does a computer work" explainer I found stops at a block diagram, so I built the whole thing as one drawing at true scale. It starts with a 16-inch laptop on a desk and zooms through 13 sheets. Some things you can do: Press a key on your keyboard and watch its ~25 ms trip to the screen. Run a 4K export and watch the chip hit its power limit. Write a bit into DRAM. It's about 59,000 electrons that leak away unless they're refreshed every 32 ms. Run a real loop in AArch64 and x86 machine code through an out-of-order core. Dope silicon with phosphorus. You can switch between an ARM ultrabook and an x86 gaming laptop the whole way down. Both are drawn from the measurements and review photos of real machines.
