Hi r/SideProject , I'm the developer. This started because I kept ending up with HEIC photos from my iPhone and RAW files from my camera, and the converters I found were either websites that want you to upload your photos, or apps that only covered a handful of formats. So I built Confi, a Mac app that converts images locally. What it does Converts between 35+ formats: HEIC, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, PNG, TIFF, GIF, PSD, PDF, SVG, ICNS, OpenEXR, JPEG 2000 and about 20 camera RAW formats (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, DNG and more) Everything runs on your Mac. No uploads, no account, no analytics Batch conversion with a parallel worker pool, so dropping in a few hundred files is fine Keeps EXIF (including GPS) or strips it, your choice Per-format quality settings, resize while converting, keeps original file dates Tech stack for the curious: Tauri 2 with a Rust backend and a React frontend. HEIC and JPEG 2000 go through small Swift helpers using Apple's ImageIO, GPU resizing uses Core Image with Metal, and JPEG XL runs through libjxl in a separate Rust sidecar.
