Original Summary

I'm doing yt short videos, fast paced voice files and got tired of cutting the silence by hand in Audacity or some hard online websites. So I built the thing I wanted: a page where you drop in an MP3/WAV/FLAC/OGG/M4A and it finds every pause for you. The part I care about most: nothing is uploaded. Everything runs in your browser with the Web Audio API, so the file never leaves your computer — you can even open the page, load a file and turn off your wifi. The part I built because cuts sounded bad at first: instead of deleting a whole pause, it keeps 25% of it, cuts the middle 65% and leaves 10% as a breath. That's the trick editors use so speech doesn't sound rushed. You can adjust numbers as you want but 25,65,10 works so good for me. Other details: threshold and minimum-length sliders, a waveform you can zoom/select on, A/B toggle per detected silence, and the cut list exports as CSV/JSON/Markdown so you can finish the edit somewhere else. Output is MP3 (128-320 kbps) or WAV 16/24-bit. No account, no watermark, no file limit other than browser memory (150 MB default). https://drus.net/cropsilence/ Feedback very welcome — especially if a threshold setting gives you weird results, that's the part I'm least sure about. submitted by /u/altamore [link] [comments]
