Original Summary
I build small free tools on the side as practice for launching my real product, a cookie-free analytics tool. This week I launched the biggest one so far, FuseLLM, and it went about as badly as a launch can. 48 hours in: 200 views on the launch post on X 8 visits to the site 2 people ran it once What it is You describe a job, and several AI models do it in steps: one drafts, another edits, another adapts, with review loops between them. It runs entirely in the browser on your own API key. No account, no backend, free, open source. What I got wrong I built for weeks before talking to anyone. 210 templates, 49 models, video, music, transcription, 18 integrations. Nobody asked for any of it. I was building because building is fun, and I used it to avoid the part I'm bad at. I can't say who it's for in one sentence. "Describe a job and AI does it" fits a developer, a marketer and a student equally badly. When everyone could use it, nobody feels it was made for them. My core idea is contested and I led with it. The pitch was "AI models check each other's work." Four technical people independently told me the same thing: one good model, set up properly, can check itself. I didn't have a test to show otherwise. I still don't. Free plus bring-your-own-key is the worst of both worlds. It's free, so I have no revenue to justify marketing it. And it asks people to sign up for an API key and add credit before they see any value. That's a big ask for something unproven. I launched to the wrong people. My followers are mostly developers and friends. Developers can build this themselves, and friends are polite. The people who'd benefit most, non-technical marketers and founders, never saw it. I counted the wrong things. I watched views and likes. The only number that matters is whether anyone uses it twice, and I don't know that yet. What went right One stranger watched the demo carefully and found a real bug in my own workflow: a later step reintroduced a claim the review step had removed. That one message was more useful than everything else combined. Direct, specific feedback from strangers is what I should have been chasing from day one. What I'd like from you If you'd never use something like this, what's the reason? I'd honestly rather hear that. If you had to pick one audience for it, who would it be? If you'd launched this, what would you have done in the first week? I'm not trying to get signups here; it's free and I'm not selling anything. I'm trying to learn before I do this again for a product that does need to make money.
