Original Summary

I use Claude Code and Codex on most of my projects. They read two kinds of instructions: global ones that say how I want the agent to behave everywhere, and repo ones that say how anyone should work on that codebase. My own thinking about a project fit neither. The approach I ruled out last month and why, a plan I'm not ready to propose, the skills I picked for that work. It ended up scattered across Obsidian, gitignored files and agent memory, and every fresh session started with me explaining where we left off. So I built Dotbrain. It borrows the dotfiles idea: your private project context lives in its own home with its own Git history, and one command wires it into whichever checkout you're working in. The agent can read it. The code repo never sees it. It is not a memory system. Nothing is inferred or stored for you. It's plain files you write and version yourself. Repo: github.com/arminzou/dotbrain Longer write-up: https://x.com/arminzou/status/2109504996521759000 Would love any feedback or where you keep this kind of context today. submitted by /u/codamin [link] [comments]
