Original Summary
I'm a professional driver from Germany. Software development isn't my day job. But I had an idea: What if I tried building my own social media platform? So I did. It's called YOYAMI, and it recently went live. Profiles, feeds, communities, messaging, interests – the foundations are there. It's a general social platform, not a niche dating app or anything like that. The first users have started signing up. I've already had to fix some registration issues and improve profile features. And now I'm discovering something interesting: Building the platform was one challenge. Convincing people to join a social network where hardly anyone exists yet might be an even bigger one. No investors. No development team. Just a personal project that somehow became a real website. I'm curious: Has anyone here tried launching a community or social platform from scratch? How did you overcome the empty-network problem? For anyone curious, it's at https://yoyami.de . submitted by /u/Feomar [link] [comments]
