Original Summary
I’ve been building Rum & Broadsides , a pixel-art browser game set in the Caribbean in 1715. You arrive in Port Royal with £100 and a borrowed sword, get your purse stolen, and start trying to make your fortune. You can trade between islands, join the Royal Navy, fight tavern duels, hunt for treasure or build an estate producing sugar and rum. At sea, you line up broadsides and board damaged ships to duel their captains. Eventually you can retire to England and pass bonuses on to your next character. I’m building it using Claude Code. The game code, canvas graphics, trading economy, combat and save system live in one HTML file. Play it free here: Rum & Broadsides I’d particularly appreciate fresh eyes on the opening. Does it make you want to keep exploring, and is it clear what to do next? Knowing where someone gets stuck or loses interest would help me decide what to improve next. submitted by /u/vlookup_enjoyer [link] [comments]
