Original Summary
Disclosure: I built this and I'm the only developer. The problem I kept hitting: I'd forget to log business miles, then rebuild the log from my calendar at tax time. Every mileage app I tried wanted me to open it or keep a background GPS app running. So I built MileHatch around not opening an app at all: Tesla owners connect read-only and every drive logs itself with odometer miles and start/end addresses. Any car + iPhone: Apple's built-in Shortcuts app logs a drive when the phone connects/disconnects from the car (CarPlay or Bluetooth). About 5 minutes to set up, nothing to install. Or just tell Grok "log 18 miles to the Acme office, client meeting". Drives wait as pending; you approve them with one tap. Reports are PDF + CSV for Schedule C, using the IRS rate for each trip date. What I learned so far: the hard part isn't capturing drives, it's getting people to review them. One-tap approval and a default work purpose did more than any feature. I'd like feedback on positioning: is "no app to install" a selling point or does it sound like a gimmick? https://milehatch.app submitted by /u/xosinsaba [link] [comments]
