Original Summary
One of the easiest mistakes in a SaaS is thinking: "If they're authenticated, they're trusted." They're not. In 2022, attackers used stolen OAuth tokens from third-party integrations connected to GitHub. Those tokens allowed them to access private repositories belonging to dozens of organizations. The scary part is that the tokens were legitimate. That's where authorization matters. A user or integration should only get the access it actually needs. If a token only needs access to one resource, giving it access to everything makes one stolen tokens much more dangerous.
