Original Summary
I’m the builder of NuPOS, a POS for cafés and small restaurants. We’ve just released Food Allergy Tracking, alongside our existing menu-aware voice ordering. The new workflow lets staff: • Tag menu items with recorded allergens. • Record a guest’s allergies on the order. • See an alert when a recorded menu allergen matches an order allergy. • Keep the order’s allergy summary visible in Kitchen Display. For example, if a guest reports a dairy allergy and staff add an item tagged with Dairy, NuPOS shows a Food Allergy Alert for review. Staff still need to check ingredients and preparation: blank metadata is not an allergen-free guarantee, and “Other” descriptions need manual checking. Voice ordering does not infer allergens. Voice ordering lets staff speak items, quantities and modifiers, review the draft, and continue by touch when needed. It requires an internet connection and a paid plan; Food Allergy Tracking is available on all plans. Kitchen Display requires Starter or Pro. You can see NuPOS at https://nupos.app I’d welcome feedback from people who work in food service: what should an allergy warning show to make the handoff from cashier to kitchen clearer? submitted by /u/AsideEarly9840 [link] [comments]
