Original Summary
About ten years ago I built NoteCoder: paste a clinical note, match disease phrases against a dictionary, and suggest ICD-10 codes. I've been rebuilding it with a local language model, and there's now a demo you can try without an account: https://notecoder-navy.vercel.app/notecoder The part I wanted to improve is connecting information across a document. A note might mention chronic kidney disease near the top, then document the current stage much later. The app proposes codes from phrase matches and related details, then asks the local model whether the whole note supports each diagnosis and its qualifiers. You can inspect highlighted phrases, switch between Medicare and ACA HCC scopes, and select codes to copy. The default synthetic example has an updated CKD stage that supersedes older stages in the same note. The first AI download is roughly 2 GB, so I'd start on a desktop. Notes are processed in the browser rather than uploaded for inference. It's free to use, but still experimental: it misses things and makes incorrect suggestions, and isn't validated billing software. Please test with the included synthetic notes. AI assisted the development of this rebuild and the preparation of this post. I'd love feedback on whether the review interface makes errors easy to spot, and examples of document wording that trips it up. submitted by /u/imfinn005 [link] [comments]
