Original Summary
The problem: MetaTrader 5's optimizer tests many parameter combinations for a trading bot and ranks them by the criterion you picked. The one at the top can be a lucky peak: change one parameter slightly and the results fall apart. What I built: Orometra looks for plateaus instead of peaks. A plateau is a region where neighboring parameter values also perform well, so it holds up when parameters change slightly. You drop in your MT5 optimization exports, and it: - finds the stable regions and checks them against the forward period, if you exported one - checks whether the top result stands out from what you'd expect by chance after testing so many combinations - reruns its own search with its internal thresholds shifted, to see if the answer depends on my settings - grades the strength of the evidence, not the strategy. It never tells you to trade, and sometimes its answer is "there's nothing here". A few decisions I'm happy with: - The analysis runs in your browser. Your files aren't uploaded anywhere. The only thing sent is an anonymous visit counter. - Absolute thresholds, not percentiles. A percentile always finds a "top 5%", even when everything loses money. - Pre-registered benchmark. I wrote down the pass/fail criteria before seeing results, and logged any later change as a dated amendment. I tested it on synthetic data where the right answer is known and published the results as they came out, including the criteria it failed. Site: https://orometra.com GitHub: https://github.com/Plazaro94/Orometra I'd love feedback: is the landing page clear if you've never heard of "plateaus"? And if you use MT5, does it read your exports correctly? submitted by /u/PLSystems [link] [comments]
