Original Summary
Context: I run a used camera store online as a side project. Have done so for a few months now. Reliably finding used price estimates was the biggest hurdle at the beginning and I wanted to share information for others to use as well. Such sites do not really exist, and the ones that do, are mostly affiliate marketing spam. So I built Kamarvo (kamarvo.com). Every day it checks the used listings at 10 camera shops in 6 countries and notices when an item sells. From that it works out what each camera or lens is really worth used. What it does Search any camera or lens and get its typical used price. A price chart, so you can see whether it’s going up or down. Prices by condition, the cheapest one for sale right now, and how much it has dropped from new. A market overview: what sells fastest, what holds its value, what’s dropping. 10 languages and several currencies. Where it is now 107,000+ listings tracked 14,000+ camera and lens models recognised 6,600+ sales recorded Data going back 10 years in the best cases (historical, not as accurate) How it’s built Python, a single SQLite database, and a small home server behind Cloudflare. The hardest part was recognising that “Sony A7 III runko”, “ILCE-7M3 body” and “Alpha 7 III” are the same camera across shops and languages. There is extensive logic behind matching models to each other. It’s free, with no sign-up. I’d love feedback. submitted by /u/Filitium [link] [comments]
