Original Summary

Someone asked me to build a simple writing program. Requirements: calm, no subscription, and no book stored in somebody else’s cloud. That became QuietWriter , a free writing app for Windows. A few things writers seem to like: A quiet editor. You write in chapters, without a wall of buttons. Your books stay on your own computer. No account, no subscription. Not sure of a name or a fact yet? Mark it as an Open point and keep writing. QuietWriter reminds you before you export. Cut a sentence you love but can’t use? It goes to Darlings, not the bin. Import from Word, and export to EPUB, PDF, Word or Markdown. It’s free and open source. Just unzip and run, no installation needed. Windows may show a warning the first time, because the app isn’t code-signed (yet?). Website: https://www.dutchscrum.nl/quietwriter GitHub: https://github.com/gen-x-coder/QuietWriter I’d love to hear what you think , whether it’s a first impression or after a few weeks of writing. No writer? No problem! All feedback is welcome. One small warning: some screenshots on the website are in Dutch. QuietWriter was made in the Netherlands and we’re a bit proud of that. The app itself speaks perfectly good English. Better than my Dutch-English, anyway. 🇳🇱 submitted by /u/Technical-Elevator91 [link] [comments]
