Original Summary
I wanted to share my side project, Scumble, a local-first, privacy-focused desktop image editor designed for high-resolution photo editing and generative inpainting workflows. ### Why build this? Many people are tired of subscription lock-in and cloud privacy concerns with traditional creative suites. Web tools like Photopea are fantastic, but working with 50+ megapixel photos or local generative AI models requires dedicated local hardware acceleration and zero network latency. ### The Tech Stack & Architecture: * Shell: Electron (Windows & Linux). * Rendering Engine: Custom 256×256 tile engine with a
SharedArrayBufferarena for multi-threaded worker pools. * GPU Pipeline: WebGL2 fragment shaders for real-time live canvas filters, viewport blending, and screen passes. * CPU Kernels in Rust (WASM): Heavy pixel algorithms (Poisson multigrid blend for healing brushes, distance transforms, row filtering, affine bicubic resampling, and 4x4 block range filters) are written in Rust (crates/px) compiled to WASM with SIMD128 + bulk memory. * Parity: Implemented all 27 Photoshop blend modes down to the exact W3C / integer math, plus bilateral edge snapping for depth maps. ### What's new in the latest update (0.1.46): Added depth-aware 64-tap Vogel disc Lens Blur / Bokeh filter. Vibrance (with skin tone protect logic), Gradient Maps, Threshold & Posterize adjustments. All 27 Photoshop blend modes (including Dissolve with deterministic spatial hash). 5x faster depth edge analysis via a new Rust WASM kernel using an L1-cache ring buffer. The project is completely free, standalone, and open-source. I would love to get your honest feedback on performance, UI feel, and usability! * GitHub: https://github.com/DenRakEiw/scumble * Windows Store / Portable zip: available on the site submitted by /u/Direction_Mountain [link] [comments]- 情报分类:服务器与云资源
